Local Photograph Competition

Posted Monday, 07 June, 2010 by Alan Cantes

The Competition
To produce a photograph that you feel best shows Hinckley and the surrounding areas to be viewed by someone who does not live there.

Brief
If you are a professional photographer, an aspiring photographer, or a happy snapper, this competition could be for you! Nicola Paton & Dr Vanley Burke are holding a call for photography submissions in the Hinckley & Bosworth area.

The theme for this competition is ‘Culture’. Send in observed shots of what you feel typifies ‘Culture’ in your area. This theme can relate to social groups, music, sports, minority groups, or something more indiscriminate such as the everyday people who sit on the benches in the town centre at 11am. Observe, record then send us your picture. Shots must not be staged.

Your submission must be printed on an 8’by 6’ print. Signed and dated on the reverse (with a short description of the photograph).  Please also submit a digital copy of your image in a Tiff or Raw format, no less than 300dpi on a CDR. Please enclose your full name, address, contact telephones numbers and an email address.

The photograph must be produced to show Hinckley and the surrounding areas to be viewed by someone who does not live there in mind.

Dr Vanley will select 3 winners to print and display in the exhibition along with his own work. The winners will have their work printed in the Local paper as participants of the Exhibition. As well as being entered into an accompanying exhibition catalogue to be printed later in the year and held and exhibited Hinckley Library.

Also, selected panel will judge the photographs and select 3 winners that will have their work printed as part of Vanley’s Exhibition at Hinckley Library and also in the Hinckley Times Newspaper.
