Held-in-the-Hand Project 2

Posted Saturday, 02 October, 2010 by Pete Underhill

We are seeking artists to create small sensory objects that can be held in the hand, forming a collection box of surprising, beautiful, tactile mystery art objects and imagined things. Following the success of our first Held in the Hand commission we now wish to commission further collections of objects aimed specifically at groups with special needs. Artists working in any appropriate medium are sought to produce small tactile and sensory objects able to be handled by groups with special needs to stimulate responses and to explore the tactile nature of things. The project is part of the fabulous Leicestershire Artworks collection, a unique resource of over 900 original works of art that are loaned to schools and groups throughout Leicestershire. In order to expand what the collection has on offer this is a pilot project to commission artists to create new resources to be used in inspirational ways in formal and informal education settings. To be sent an artist's brief please contact Jo Dacombe by email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or tel. 0116 2239670. Deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 29th October 2010. All art objects must be completed by the end of January 2011. Artists who applied for the previous commission are welcome to re-apply.
